US Envoy: Russians Make Concessions on Five Ukrainian Regions

According to US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Moscow has made concessions on five regions in Ukraine.

During their talks with US President Donald Trump on Friday, the Russians made certain concessions regarding all five regions in eastern Ukraine. “There is an important discussion going on about Donetsk and what will happen there,” Witkoff told CNN.

The issue of Ukrainian territory, of which Russia has seized nearly a fifth, will be discussed in Washington on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Witkoff said.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in turn, emphasized that both Russia and Ukraine will have to make concessions for peace. Concessions from both countries are needed for an agreement, Rubio said in an interview.

To end the war, there are things Russia wants but won’t get, and there are things Ukraine wants but won’t get, Rubio said.
