Air Canada Ends Strike After Canadian Government Intervention

Air Canada will resume its flights later today after being directed by the Canadian government to end a strike.

All striking cabin crew members must return to work by 7:00 PM UK time.

This weekend, Air Canada flight attendants went on strike over a pay dispute, causing the Canadian airline to cancel numerous flights. As a result, several flights between Schiphol Airport and the Canadian cities of Montreal and Toronto will also be canceled on Sunday, according to flight information from Schiphol.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) is demanding higher wages and payment for work outside the cabin, such as checking passengers in or out. The affected employees will be paid based on the time they fly. On Saturday, all 700 flights were cancelled, affecting more than 100,000 travellers.
